Speed Date Ltd is a privately owned company that specialises in running singles events that enable successful single professionals with busy lifestyles to connect.
With vision and an itch to break into the Auckland singles market with the all new phenomenom taking the world by storm, Greg Sowden started Speed Date Ltd in February 2004.
After building up the business and starting to make a bit of an inpact, Greg decided to follow his girlfriend to the UK and sold the business in April 2005.
Current owner me - Verity Molloy took over the business and has since built it up and expanded it greatly into The Ultimate Singles Network that Connects Singles.
Speed Date Ltd hosts over 6 high quality singles events every month in Auckland. Events include Speed Dating, special events for people with a common background, lifestyle or interest as well as a variety of themed parties, dinners and day trips. See Upcoming Events
We have new people signing up weekly. Our loyal, friendly clients are happy to spread the word about the great times they have had at Speed Date. We get such a great amount of feedback from our customers
I am over the moon to say that we have managed to be the catalyst to 25 engagements/weddings (that I know of) and copious amounts of hook-ups. Read the Success Stories
Speed Dating is such a great way to meet people, to socialise and make some truly great friends – and life time companions if you’re lucky!
So many of our customers would have never thought to come along to a Speed Dating event but once in the door and once they’ve had the experience, we know they’re coming back!

From Ice Queen to Speed Date Queen |

Growing up I was the typical Kiwi kid, born to hard working parent’s that fought too much, I had two pain the bum older brothers that thrived on giving me Chinese burns and a twin sister who although looked identical to me that’s as far as our similarities went….no we didn’t have some freaky esp thing going on.
My teens was a living hell for me, my nickname was Ice Queen, people thought I was a snob as I rarely spoke to people but it was because I had no confidence and hated myself.
Most of my life I spent surviving day to day, never planning a future as I wasn’t too sure I had one!
Then it happened - I was introduced to Speed Date!
It took me about 6 months to get up the nerve to book it, a couple of cheeky chardy’s to get me through the door, and my flat mate was my wingman!
Um quite a few more drinks were consumed during the event, I was rather tidily but on a high!
Next morning albeit a sore head I was stoked that I had the confidence (although fueled by wine) to date 12 guys and had an awesome night! – All my mates heard about it!
A month or so later I found out Speed Date Ltd was up for sale.
I rang my dad and I told him it was up for sale, I said I was going to cash in my superannuation and buy it.
He sad I was bloody mad!
I said I wanted to start living my life and not just existing day to day. I told him how the whole experience had affected me, gave me confidence etc and if little old me could go speed dating then any body could!
I wanted to help others like me, I wanted to be part of something good that could ultimately change some people lives, I felt like this could change my life!
So on the 13th April 2005 Speed Date Ltd became mine and I have never looked back, it has been the best decision in my life! The mere shadow of a person I was has gone, it has been molded into a new confident vibrant person with a purpose in life!
